The 5-Minute Au Jus That Puts the Packet to Shame

Have you ever flipped over a store-bought au jus packet and thought, “Why does meat sauce need corn, soy, wheat, sugar, and mystery ‘natural flavors’?” Well I've had the same thought.

Here’s the good news: au jus is one of the easiest sauces on the planet to make from real food, and it takes about as long as preheating the oven. No packets. No fillers. No food-science experiments.

Just rich, savory, crave-worthy flavor.

Why This Matters

People skip out on healthy food because they think it tastes bad. This doesn't have to be the case, and I know, when flavor is missing, motivation to eat healthy quickly

disappears. This au jus fixes that in five minutes flat.

Simple Homemade Au Jus (No Packet Required)

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp butter

  • 2 cups beef stock

  • ¼ cup red wine

  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)

  • ¼ tsp black pepper (optional)

Directions

  1. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium-high heat.

  2. Whisk in the beef stock, red wine, and Worcestershire sauce (if using).

  3. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 5–10 minutes, until slightly reduced.

  4. Season with black pepper to taste.

That’s it. Spoon it over roast beef, meatballs, mashed potatoes, or anything that deserves a glow-up.

This is exactly the kind of thing we dive into during my Sauce & Season experience — teaching you how to build big flavor with simple ingredients so healthy eating actually feels enjoyable (because it should).

Once you stop relying on packets, you’ll never go back. 🍷🥩
